Subject: [CR] Ebay outing, mine: c.1978 italian Masi Gran Criterium, restoration project

Good day all,

The time has come to offer my 'Masi that wants to be a Gazelle' for sale, so that a new owner can do what is right and respectful to this essentialy very nice frame. I can not stick a price on this 'project frame', so I have listed the frame on Ebay so the market can decide what its value is.

Item number is 220494795357, auction will end next Sunday.

The text in the listing tells everything I think, so I will give some bare essentials here. Size of the frame is 58 c-t, with 56.5 c-c toptube. Tubing is Reynolds 531 DB. I've decided its a (circa) 1978 frame, mostly because of the 'portacatena' dropouts, but Masi cognoscenti will know more. There is a long list of awful things that have happened to this frame, the Gazelle decals being the least of them. But in essence the frame is OK, no dents or bent tubes. I got it as a complete bike, and it could still be ridden pleasantly. Its funny that a week or so ago another Masi that wanted to be a Gazelle turned up (the '66 frame built for Rik van Looy).

The frame needs quite extensive repair and restoration work, but of course thats up to the new owner. Please keep in mind the cost of what you deem necessary in case you decide to bid. I think this might be a nice winter project for a framebuilder ....

Starting price was 49 ud, but it has received two bids already. There is no reserve.

This is the link to the Ebay listing: http://ebay.com/<blah>

My sellers name is faustobeer. In the listing is a link to good quality pitures in my wooljersey album, in another album you'll find pictures of the bike as I found it 4 years ago. I think the pictures give a good idea of what the frame is all about.

Thanks for looking! And of course if you have questions, don't hesitate to send me a mail.
