Hi All,
I've used this listing method several times on items where I found no clear history as to market value and have no good idea where to start or what to ask, whether old bike related or old car related. So I list it at a price I would feel good about and that's fair but at the high end, with the Make Offer option in case I'm way off base. Some deal seekers come with offers at 10 percent of the Buy it Now, but most buyers simply make an offer that removes the shipping cost. Something to do with getting a perceived deal I guess. I'd say it's worked well in more than 50 percent of the listings I've chosen to do it with. The seller has the option to counteroffer, and that's been a successful way of negotiating a good price for both sides in my experience. Just another option in the World's online garage sale that is ebay, I guess...haggling of sorts.
