List members may recall my appeal for help in locating E A Boult (absorbed into Witcombe Cycles in the early 50s) transfers several weeks ago. After several false starts I discovered that Barry Witcombe is now working for Colortech at Dartford near London and was able to obtain some Boult transfers from him. The problem I now have is that although the down tube transfers are obviously original varnish fix, the head/seat tube transfer appear to be 1960s waterslide reproductions, and so they are not a matching set in terms of colour and texture. I have therefore redrawn them and will have them printed onto cast vinyl by Nick Tithecott so they match, and they will then be available for anyone else who needs them. However, before I do so it would be helpful if anyone familiar with 1930s to 1950s Boult transfers can tell me if the head/seat tube transfers are faithful to the original, or are a simplified 1960s design. If they are not as the original than a pic and/or trace of an original would be greatly appreciated. My redrawn artwork can be seen at:
