Well, sometimes you might not need to, but my last purchase of the '59 Hurlow, needed the BB refaced. Needed it badly as was not very close to proper when I first installed the BB. It actually needs the headset redone as well; but I am waiting til the best riding weather is gone to do that; (and replace the Tange headset with a Campagnolo Gran Sport one).
