George, Please do.

Hi-E axles didn't come in a 126. The axles were all the same length and made from 1/2" tubing. Various length end caps were used to get different lengths.

Here's an end cap I made to get more length. http://bikesmithdesign.com/temp/HiE-end-cap.jpg

The original axles were 0.035" wall thickness which we found to be inadequate. I made a new one from 0.049" but 4130 tubing is always a few thousandths oversized to I had to spin mine on a lathe and sand it to a good fit. Took quite a while. Maybe he was having the axle tubing centerless ground.

The guys who do my CNC work could take a piece of 5/8" x 0.120" 4130 and machine it to exactly 0.500" for you. When they turn tubing down it gets almost a mirror finish. And you could have them make end caps to whatever length you need. They do bike work 1/2 price when business is slow, which it is this time of year. Contact me off-list if you are interested.
