Question on the narrow handlebars - When I restored my 50's italian mysterbike last year, I used 38cm bars - which are pretty narrow for me - but, I kept hearing that's how these bikes were configured/ridden, so I wanted to build it in as close to real shape as possible to see how it rides. etc...

I'm now wondering if it was possible that 38's were all that common, though I love this bike and it's wierd qwerks - can anyone shed light on the configuration/geometry of these older bikes?

Thanks

\r?\n> Jim,

\r?\n>

\r?\n> I have that same exact frame / bicycle.   I

\r?\n> bought mine from list member Steven Maasland, who if I

\r?\n> recall (and I could be wrong) got it from J.P.  I

\r?\n> believe it's an early 60's, so your assessment of the date

\r?\n> is accurate.  Mine was completely original and in a sad

\r?\n> state.  I very carefully and painstakingly refurbished

\r?\n> it using all that parts that were on the bike.  I can

\r?\n> send you photos if you like of the bike and components so

\r?\n> you know how it looks in it's original

\r?\n> configuration.   It's a pretty cool bike with

\r?\n> mojo up the yin yang.  Even rides pretty well, if you

\r?\n> like reeeeally narrow handlebars.

\r?\n> Jim,

\r?\n>     She is not rare; you'll need allot of

\r?\n> numbers if your gonna start  counting.  Tour model

\r?\n> was second in line to the Professional  model

\r?\n>          ( which is not really

\r?\n> "rare" either).  Figure she  dates just post 1950

\r?\n> from the seat sticker.  The headtube badges had

\r?\n> the years listed winning the worlds; at least on the pro

\r?\n> models.  Non  campy rear dropouts are the giveaway

\r?\n> to hierarchy.

\r?\n> Cool, sell or build and enjoy.

\r?\n> Funny, I've only scene the Tour models in this

\r?\n> bronze/maroon "Team"  color combo, but NEVER a pro

\r?\n> model.

\r?\n>     The list meister has a Frejus city bike

\r?\n> in this color combo that I  sold him.  Look for

\r?\n> her on the site.

\r?\n>     Now if ya find a pro in team colors,

\r?\n> well that's a story!
