Hi Tom. I used to route my toe straps like that years ago. Mostly I did it because the strap pulled the foot forwards into the pedal being behind the ball of the foot where it is widest, so my feet were less likely to pull out of the pedals when sprinting.

Just my tuppence worth.

Dear List: ? Still looking wistfully at the Cinelli, and noticed a different toe strap routing: ? http://www.speedbicycles.ch/pic.php?enr=355&pic=055 ? ? Does anyone know what the point of this is?? To put the strap a little farther back?? Less pressure on the outside of the foot?? Or just a goofy routing by someone who either didn't know better or is eccentric?
