Hi All,

Several years ago, I owned an early 60's Cinelli SC from Cupertino Bikes. It came to me with the original order, receipt and correspondence between Spence and the buyer in Utah. It was supplied with a Record derailleur installed and the receipt showed delivery of an 'Alpine' modified rear derailleur as well, and a note that the new owner may want to try that in the mountains if he rode there often, and how to lengthen the chain in order to do so. There were also notes on the reverse side of the receipt, written by Spence as to tuning and maintenance suggestions and procedures. Delivery time for the bike was almost exactly six months from the time of order and payment. A beautiful black bike with red decals (present on the downtube and everywhere else as normal). Sadly, the bike was way too large for me and found a new home after several years on display in my shop. I've never replaced it with one that's my size. Bummer. Very cool bike, though, and very thorough service from a bike shop nearly a thousand miles away, by snail mail!
