Subject: [CR] Romic Tribute Webpages

Hello all,

I'm happy to announce the long project that many of you have helped me with to document and acknowledge the work US bicycle builder Roman 'Ray' Gasiorowski and Romic cycles is ready to view. The webpages include some history of Romic Cycles, stories from family and friends, video and newspaper clips, model specs, and a small number of images from the 'build book' which documents each of the over 14,000 frames built between 1974 and 2004 (Ray passed in November 1996, and the family kept the shop for 8 years longer) More work on the Gallery pages will follow, and I will add a section about Track frames soon.

The site is here: http://www-hsc.usc.edu/~rpinder/Romic.html (note..those of you who reviewed the preliminary pages - use the link above vs the earlier one I sent)

Today (2/20/2009) is a special one for Houston area Vintage Steel lovers and Romic Cycle frames. Daniel Boone cycles has brought out of their attic about 50 NOS Romic frames from the 80's, and are having a reception and rollout of the classic builds that Joy and the team at Daniel Boone are now offering. If there are any list members in the Houston area and you plan on attending, I'd love to hear how it goes and get some pictures of these bikes ! Gerry Gasiorowski sent out this description of this evening's event. :
> Some of you may have already heard, but Boone Cycles 5318 Crawford in
> Houston, is going to have a reception Friday evening from 6:30 until
> 10:00 pm. They will introduce the 50 frames they had Ray build back
> in the 80's & just kept them in their attic.
>
> These will be offered as your choice of 3-Speed, Single Speed or
> Shimano Nexis Group. All painted Silver Metallic, & signed decal.
>
> The sizes offered are from 19" to 25". (I know some of you ride a
> larger size frame). The price range will be between $1,000 & $1,700
> depending on the component packege that is chosen. The buyer will
> receive a Certificate of Authenticity that the frame was built by
> Romic, Ray's design & supervision, for each serial number in the group.
>
> This is a one time deal, so if you know someone that would like to
> order one, they should contact Daniel Boone Cycles at the above
> address.......
>
> Thanks for your interest in Romic Bicycles,
>
