My local post office seems to be quite diligent in sorting out "correct" sizes when presented. I always check the web site for shipping information and if total combined size is <108" l+g, I just won't bother as it is too much effort. I have informed several Australian potential buyer of frames &/or complete bicycles, that the size limitations make it too difficult to comply.

I never even present a package that I know might be rejected by the USPS. As I mentioned, my local P.O. is quite good with their efforts.

All the best,

In response to the post by Ben Kamenjas:

If maximum length is 105 cm and maximum girth is 140 cm for Priority Mail International to Australia, you could send a box 41 inches long and 55 inches around, or length plus girth = 96 inches, vs. the 79 inches shown on the USPS website. If this is true, someone needs to inform the US Postal Service. We buy postage from USPS, not Australia. As it is, any reasonable, conscientious postal worker would have to refuse a package that exceeded the 79-inch rule. I have seen a 96-inch rule for some countries, so okay, perhaps there has been a misunderstanding. At the same time, there are plenty of other countries subject to the 79-inch rule; are all these wrong as well? If anyone on the CR List is a Postal Service insider, or knows someone who is, it would be great to have this clarified. I personally think it extremely unlikely that such an important and widespread policy could be so totally messed up for so long a time just due to a simple misunderstanding on the part of the Postal Service.
