Andrew, I equate 8/5/8 with "fairly sturdy competition-level (531c)" tubing - not exotic, but the lightest tubeset that could be used for general purpose road riding (both racing and some touring). If the frame had anything exotic, like short wheelbase, aggressive bottom-bracket cutouts, or maybe a very aggressive fork, or a 7/4/7 or 6/3/6 tube (531 pro or the sekai 5000), then for certain the eyelets would be omitted in the frame design. All I'm saying is that the eyelets suggest that the both frames have an 8/5/8 floor on gauge.
I will take the parts off of my frame and weigh it for my charts.
I'd be really amazed if the finest or newest uses 1/7/1 tubing, fujis were heavy bikes but that would make it a loaded touring bike. Maybe it uses 9/6/9. i think the weight will tell me the answer ...
