The Shimano 600 morphed into the Shimano Ultegra and that does have quite a following but not in this forum. The iBOBs love them as do the Serotta forum crowd. They are not collectors pieces but more utilitarian and a notch down on the price scale. The thing I find strange on these forums is that the people there will spend many thousands of dollars on a F&F and deck it out with Ultegra. But I bet they look at the collectors like us and say, look at that old school stuff decked out with that Campy stuff. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I spent what for me is a lot of money to buy Peter's own Weigle frame from him a few years ago. I love the bike, and ride it often. I have equipped it with low-end Campgranolo indexed stuff, which works just fine. NOwadays, I think that putting the money into the frameset instead of the components is like buying great speakers but driving them with a moderate price receiver. There's lots more difference in framesets than component groups, just like there's still more difference among speakeer sets than the signals coming out of a bunch of receivers, eh?
