Yes indeed, that dreaded toe overlap does exist. I bought one of the ora nge 531-tubed Cresents a few years ago from a CR lister and rode it with on-topic components for a couple years. I loved the ride, but that toe-o verlap did cause one embarrassing get-off at slow speeds. I re-painted it to closely mimic the SS bike with gold lugs and put an off-topic gruppo and fenders on it to use it as my touring bike. The fenders made the toe-overlap that much worse. Too bad as it's a wonderful bike otherwise. Dave Whitney Poland, Maine USA

There was a "hole in the wall" bike shop, occupied an old gas station, here in the early 70's. Among other stuff they sold Crescents. They had a SS Crescent. As I recall, it was not particularly light and it had another trait I believe many Crescents had.....A miserable amount if toe clip overlap with the front wheel. I was actually contemplating a different Crescent, 531 frame tubes, but it actually felt dangerous to ride because of the overlap. I remember it be ing a bright orange color, really nice and bright.
