Tendil was a small regional manufacturer based in the Provencal town of Nimes, not toofar from Avignon. It is a wonderfully picturesque tonw with m any Roman remains and, I think, still has a bull-fighting arena.
The Tendil family is still active in the town, but no longer manufacturing. ..and one of the sons, Christophe runs a bike shop at Malaucene the take-o ff town for anyone wanting to attack Le Mont Ventoux from the northern side ..
The company was set up and run by Mrs Tendil who used to sponsor a Regional team of Pros in many of France's classic road races and the Tour in the 4o s.
This frame appears to be very well built with some better than average fi nishing, for a frame produced by a manufacturer as opposed to a craftsman-b uilder. The lugs are Oscar Egg Super Champion Mod. SA3..and, at a guess, I would think the tubing would be either Durifort, Rubis or Vitus. The top-ey es are nicely plated up and the routing of the gear and brake cables well c arried out. Among the frames finest features are the elegantly raked fork blades.
I am currently researching Tendil and hope to put some pictures on my Flick r site within the week.
I bet it rides a treat.
