Do the Grand Bois come in wire bead? The ones I have (all 650B) are foldin g tires. Many of the concaves were either non-hooked of only sort of semi- hooked rims. It's usually not a good idea to use folding tires on non-hook ed rims.

If the Grand Bois are all folding, Panaracer Paselas are a nice wire bead t ire at a reasonable price. Also nice were IRC Road Winner II, though these are now getting hard to find with classic tan sidewalls. And besides the Top Touring, there are several other Continental models available in wire b ead, including the excellent Ultra Gatorskin. Most are avialable with the classic Continental translucent brown sidewall.

I do carry a folding tire as a spare, but if I have to use it on a non-hook ed rim, I keep the pressure moderate and replace with a wire bead tire when I get home.
