Subject: [CR] Cycling shoes

Thank you to everyone who has tried to help with my shoe question. Now I am more confused, maybe I thought a cleat was what I am already wearing. (Modern shoes with bolt on cleats that snap into the pedal). All I know is that I am very interested in restoring classic bikes and always like to get the correct period bits which include pedals with straps and toe clips. Now (sorry to be a pain) is there a specific shoe designed to wear with these old set ups so I can ride the things sometimes? I am really confused when people start talking about cleats. I thought that these were a modern device for clip in pedals. I think I am more of a restorer than a rider and I do like to make use of them but I don't have a riding history like most of you. When I look through the photos of vintage bikes on the CR site I see mostly straps and toe clips, surely these bikes are ridden.
