Actually, I assume that is a recurring location on the vintage NYC map wallpaper at Subway submarine sandwich shops. When eating there, I like to see how many of the ovals I can spot (the same velodrome, in repetition in different places on the walls).

Not many people know that for 8 years, from 1922 to 1930, there was a velodrome in Marble Hill in the Bronx, just across the Broadway Bridge from Manhattan:
