Depends how much you use. It really is not a lot of weight. Some of the newer tubulars (TUFO and some Continentals) can't be patched as they are vulcanized.

I never have tried sealant. I'm a good tubular surgeon. I patch mine th e classic way. Doesn't the sealant make the tire feel "dead" and add rotational inertia?
