Morning George,
There were no Motobecane dealers in my neck of the woods in the mid 70's, but by 1980 there was one and I remember looking at a Grand Record and the price was $399 in September 1980.
I bought a new PX-10 in 1972 and paid $200 and then, the next year, I bought one of those "elusive" Raleigh RRAs for $375.? I think some unscrupulous shops were jacking up the price just a bit, especially where there was little in the way of competition.? I remember looking at the Raleigh Professional in 1973, but it was $565 and simply out of reach for a poor college student - Now they still are :-)
In approximately 1977, a Serotta Club Special (or something like that) could be had for about $850.00 and that was full Nuovo Record.

Greetings all-? ?
I've finally completed the 'refreshment' of my 1976 Motobecane Grand Record. I plan on doing a little 'show-and-tell' at our next bike club meeting. What would this bike have sold for new? And, just for comparisons sake, how about a similar vintage Schwinn Varsity and, say, a Peugeot PX10.? ?
Thanks for any info-? ?
