If I'm not mistaken the "electro-forged" Schwinns weren't made of tubing at all in the usual sense; steel strip stock was formed into the tubes and joints of the frame and all flash-welded together. See http://sheldonbrown.com/varsity.html for the amazing details.

Anyway, I have a 1953 Varsity that is clearly fillet-brazed. It's much like an English Sports model. They normally had Sturmey AW hubs, but mine has a coaster hub (with two caliper brakes as well!) and the Schwinn S6 rims (26 x 1-1/4 as usually measured). It's too small for me and I'd like to part with it. If anyone is interested, please contact me off list.
