Does anyone have any information on frame numbers of Fausto Coppi bikes bui lt by Fiorelli? I have a frame, probably from the 1970s that I would lik e to date more accurately. It has long Campagnolo rear dropouts without the small hole in the RH dropout that was for something I don't know, and t he frame number is J1165 stamped under the bottom bracket. Additional fe atures that might help date it are derailleur cable guides on top of the BB and cable stop on the rear stay, but no lever bosses. Bottle cage bosse s on the downtube only and nothing for the rear brake cable.
The Campag hubs that came with the frame may be original, but the fronts ha ve no date on the locknuts and the rears are dated 1978, but a longer axle has been fitted with new spacers, so it is possible that the cones and lock nuts were changed too or that it is a non-original hub, because it is space d for 7 speeds and wider than the dropout spacing.
I desperately need a chainring (3/32" chain) for my late 40s Umberto Dei. The cranks appear to have the standard BSA type small diameter 5-pin fi xing. I am currrently using an alloy TA chainring which is woefully out of place and would really like to fit something more appropriate. If any body has one that they are willing to part with, please let me know -- size not too critical, but preferably in the range 46 to 50 teeth. Failing t hat, I believe there is a company in the UK (possibly Wales) that makes cha inrings to order. Does anybody know who and where they are?
Thanks for any help
