This is a very good explanation, but just as with other sources, it is clear that gluing on tubulars is a royal pain in the a**. He does mention the option of double sided tape, even though he says he doesn't use it. As I've said before, I find Tufo tape infinitely more convenient than gluing. As one commenter posted on Moulton's site, reading the procedure is enough to make many people stick with clinchers. I think most cyclists today, even serious ones, will ride clinchers rather than endure a three part multiday procedure for mounting tubulars. Tufo tape or other double sided tubular tapes makes tubulars acceptable to many riders who would otherwise not consider them, unless that could afford to have a shop mount all their tubulars for them. I do find interesting Dave's comment about leaving a small patch unglued opposite the valve stem, as a place to start removing a flat tubular. I especially find interesting a commenter's response that he uses the same trick with double-sided tape, leaving a gap in the tape. Anyone here tried this trick with Tufo tape or other double-sided tape? I think I'm going to try this next time I install a tubluar with Tufo tape. I'm also going to try using the Tufo tape on non-Tufo tubulars. Although gluing was more popular In The Day, tape has also been used for attaching tubulars for many decades, long before Tufo was introduced. I think Tufo is probably stronger than most older tapes, and there is no reason to believe it would not work as well - and probably better - than the older tapes did on non-Tufo tubulars. Tufo distributors will tell you Tufo tape works better with cotton rather than synthetic base tapes, but I suspect the same is true of other tubular tapes and most likely of rim cement as well.

\r?\n> mount a tubular
