I used the TUFO standard tape on a pair of Conti Sprinters glued to GP4 rims. I'm not sure if the Texas heat caused the gooey sticky mess that resulted but I can tell you I glued every bit of road debris and grass clippings in North Texas to my sidewalls. I contacted Tufo North America about it and was told that the regular tape was formulated for cyclocross tires and was not recommended for road usage. Tufo stated that the extreme tape should be the only tape used on road tire rim combinations. They also reiterated that the tape was not guaranteed to work with any tires other than their own.

The thing that I found most disturbing was that during high summer temps the tufo tape softened to the point that rolling a tire became a possiblity, all adhesion between the tire and the rim was basically lost.

After spending a few hours cleaning the residue and debris off my rims I swore I would never use Tufo tape again. I've been quite happy going back to Vittoria Mastic or Pana cement .
