This type triple has been done for years by myself. The longer chainwheel screws came off a Campy outer plate that keep the chain from derailing. My set came with the plate and I canned it to save weight like most did in the 1975 era. I always liked a tighter and more lined up geartrain. It wasn't for mountains as much as small steps, like 51-47-42. Dickey Greer West Monroe,La USA Thanks so much to all you who have, or are serving your Country.
Is this another, more expedient way to home-brew a triple and was this practice common? Did Campy approve this method...thus the longer bolts...or what did Campy do at factory?
