Dear All, I'm a complete newbie but have been looking at the site for quite a while and I have been looking for any information regarding Major Brothers (Frank and Arthur) frame builders who built lightweight tourers in the 40's and 50's in Thornton Heath near Croydon, England. The only mention I have so far is via the Thornton Road cycling club but nothing more than a mention and that someone remembers one of the brothers bringing a new style (Mafac, I think) brake lever back from France. Anyway, I was born in South East London, not far from Croydon and have recently acquired a circa 1950 Major Bros frame which I'm hoping to restore. It's got some of the old transfers left but it would be great if anyone could remember anything else about the bikes. Either way, I enjoy the site.
