Hi,
My wife and I had our tandem delivered from Oxford, UK to Valence, France, which was the starting point of honeymoon. We used Remi Girardin Transport Services (www.rgts.co.uk) and they were very easy to work with. Our plan was to have the tandem delivered to the hotel we were staying at, and for my wife and I to travel separately via Eurostar. But actually, the weekend we were travelling, there had been a fire in the Chunnel, and the trains were cancelled, so the Remi Girardin van driver gave us a lift via ferry to France and we eventually reached Valence. We rode about 500km through the Rhone Valley to the Med, and around, and at the end of two weeks another van came to pick the tandem up and ship it back to the UK.
I seem to remember the shipping cost being about £150 each way. Make sure you package it well though. Remi Girardin speaks fluent English (with an Essex accent) and seems to do quite a lot of bike and motorbike transporting between France and UK

All,
This is a cry for help for information on shipping a bike from France to England. It has been suggested I go pick up the bike myself, which would be very time consuming, but fun, and possibly even economical in view of what I am being quoted for shipping. Does anyone know of a reasonable shipping company and what I should expect to pay? I got a good deal on the bike I am purchasing, but it will look a lot less good if I pay almost as much again for shipping.
Thanks,
