Subject: [CR] For Sale ... BW unit hub, ...
Hilary Stone offered for sale at least one very striking item:
BAYLISS WILEY 4-SPEED UNIT HUB Part NOS 40H includes a complete set of 4
3/32 15-17-19-21T sprockets - these were really quite popular in the UK
in the 1950s but most are 3 speed 1/8in; 4spds are rare and more
useable. The rear hub is NOS; included is a spare used rear hub 45 GBP

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
With the benefit of 20:20 hindsight, isn't that a beauty? Just like a
modern "free-hub," it gets the bearing outboard on the right, where it
should be for proper support. If only they'd thought about the issues of
stacking up 4 threaded cogs, one after another, instead of a spline
system. So close, and yet so far.
Your mileage may vary, and I like my Bayliss-Wiley unit bottom bracket!
