Dear Classic Rendezvous List Members,
I recently dug out an old pair of "Mini Christophe" toe clips from an old set of pedals.
What seems unusal to me is the overall width of these "toe clips".They are not designed for toe straps.the only fit over your toes and appear to be designed to fit around a pair of reflectors. The total lenght of these "wide" "mini Christophe" clips is 3 3/8" inches from side to side where the clips would bolt onto the back side of the pedal. The model number is "ref. 33M" indicating that they would work with pedal hole centers between a range of: 64.5 mm to 77 mm (hole centers for the mounting hardware).I dug around my parts bin and found an NOS pair in the box with the above information.I hope this helps out some riders with wide feet.I've always found the little mini toe clips helpful on short rides around town in shoes with a wider platform,to keep one from slipping off the pedals. These types of clips wouldn't be used on your typical "racing bicycle".Christophe seems to have made a whole range of these "mini Christophe" toe clips sans straps. The box indicates six different size were made going all the way up to a "Model 46M" that would work on hole centers between 74 mm to 86 mm with 82 mm being the center point of the hole centers
Yours truly,
