A few years ago I got a phone call from a someone who needed help restoring an old French bike. The guy on the other end of the phone wasn't making any sense so I told him to come over and I'd help in any way I can. I figured, he wasn't old enough to drive, so this would put him off.
He was at my door within an hour with an old Motobecane, that needed a fresh bottom bracket. Cheap price to pay to get him out the door, so off he went not wanting to push his luck.
Months later I got a call asking if I was interested in an old Panasonic. In this case I was at his door within an hour. After a some light repairs and replacements, new brake studs and fresh paint (to my daughters specs) she got a new-old bike.
This repeated itself with my wife's city bike: a fire-engine-red ROSS.
A month ago Noam called to ask about this year's classic bike show and swap meet. I said go for it. Turn's out that Noam is well known and highly thought of on some internet forums (unlike myself). A few notices and a few weeks passed until the show, which was held in the park near my house.
40 bikes, a hundred visitors and as many beers made the show a great success. I even unloaded 4 old frames.
