Hello Michael,

The two British touring guys were cousins. Their names where Nicholas (or Nick) and Richard Crane. What I loved about their touring expedition to the 'centre of the earth' was that it was carried out on a couple of Raleigh Reynolds 753 racing bikes and was very minimalist. Somewhere I have a document with their packing lists on it, if I find it I'll share it. It had stuff like cutting your toothbrush in half to save weight.

Nicholas Crane has gone on to become an cultured, outdoors television presenter. He hosts a couple of shows on the BBC. Despite the fact that he always carries an umbrella and acts like a geography teacher on a school trip, it's great to know that underneath all that he's a tough old adventurer.

Does anyone remember a couple of British guys, they may have been brothers, who cycled to the center of the earth, which is somewhere out in the middle of China. They had someone, may have been Raleigh build them two 753 Reynolds frames. The two set off with really minimal equipment, and did this. I then later read where they cycled the Rift Valley of Africa, with junker bikes they bought down there. I kept the magazines that had the storys, but have long since lost them. Would like to research these boys, now may be old boys, any info would help. Thanks. Michael Thompson Monroe, Louisiana It was 102F here yesterday, set a record.
