Ok, I made up the brand name but none of you guys could tell me what it was when I posted it a few months ago as an "Italian mystery frame".
It seemed to be a 60's frame and I had enough later 60's stuff on hand to build it up. I was on the fence about doing a resto on it but after the first ride last night I'm really glad I did. Taking it around my neighborhood "crit" layout I instantly liked the way the bike felt (not usually the case). There's one flat corner on a slight downhill that has a very fast approach and if I can go in without squeezing a little rear brake I know it's a good frame. Usually on my test rides I'm just trying to remember what I forgot to tighten, but I was hammering on this bike right away! Fit is perfect as well.
Keith Anderson did the beautiful copper/gold paint which to me really captures the 60's look of classic Atala's and the ultimate in class, Masi Champagne. And he was good enough to take some vintage parts in trade helping keep the project out of the money-pit scenerio.
Greg Softley whipped up the graphics with a nod to the fine folks in Milano and the "Otis Family" coat of arms.
And Tony Colegrave created the custom saddle based on an original Ottusi belonging to Michael Allison.
Parts are late 60's period Record/NR, except the rear der which is a temp until I figure out how to change the plates on my "patent" one which was too bent up to shift properly. Fiamme red's, and a Universal Super 68 brakeset.
Here's some quick pics, it's been pouring on and off today so no time for detail shots:
