Greg,
The matching and decaled pump is an American trend if I'm not mistaken. Taking up from Masi where we left off (the matching engraved pump, which were not painted but supplied from Silica that way to Masi) we American builders started the decal business on the pumps in the early 70's. Wizard Cycles might have been one of the very earliest examples of the matching pump trend.
Other information welcome; but I don't remember seeing decaled pumps until we started doing it. The trend began prior to the trend to add a second set of WB mounts on the seat tube; that I know for sure. The extra WB trend generally forced the pump to be mounted under the top tube.

Here is wishing everyone at Le Cirque some good riding weather, and a wonderful time!
Ive seen several Masi's, Cinelli's, and Colnagos with matching pumps in the same color, and with the same decal set up as the seat tube.
Heres one on ebay - 320376718384
Anyone know when this trend started? My 71 Masi came with a Silca pump in the same color as the frame, with a simple yellow "Masi" engraved on it, but no decals or additional trim. Im guessing none of the manufacturers supplied these decal decorated pumps. Anyone know? I don't remember ever seeing this in the 70s. It adds some bling, but sometimes looks over the top!
What do other listers think!?
Thanks!
