Dear Fellow Listers,
For the past few weeks I've been communicating with Harry Lavery. Harry was the principal frame-builder for Norman Fay Bicycles, South Shields, UK. According to Harry, a total of about one hundred bikes were built during the '70's. The proprietor, Norman Fay, recently died on his bike as a result of an auto accident. More info can be found by Google.
Harry is trying to document all surviving Norman Fay bikes which are now scattered to the four winds. Besides my recent acquisition, I know of one other owned by a fellow CR lister. Can anyone reply to me, the CR list or Harry) if they recall sighting one?
If a mystery frame, the two I've seen have unique (to me) features such as use of square-stock (with diamond reinforcements) for bridges and hard-to-describe unusual wrap-'round seatstays...please let me know if other bikes used these as well. Serial numbers are 4-digit stamped bottom of BB with first two numbers indicating year...no head-badges.
