Pretty close to a sew up in 1890.
The book "Hearts of Lions" shows sew up tires for velodrome use being made in Newark in the 1920's. The casings were parachute silk.
I once heard that the Clement machinery was actually from a Brooklyn factory. So Brooklyn to Italy to Thailand chasing cheaper labor.

Been digging around the archives and google trying to find info on pre 1960 sew ups. I found some bits about the Clement 50, but I was curious to know what the clement timeline/model lineup was for anything before 1960. Additionally, any information about what tires were in vouge during say the late 1940's to 1960 would be great.
