Not off topic at all .. why would it be? It's steel tubing, in the traditional form, made by a certain Keeper of the Flame company.
It has been determined on-list that 1984 is pretty much the first year of regular use of Columbus SLX tubing, although, there are conditions to suggest that it was available in limited amounts in 1983, perhaps later in the year.
I have an unusual Torpado frameset that was built for Torpado's Director of Marketing in Italy, delivered in May of 1984, but the order and specs for that frame were initiated in late 1983.
