I'm not so sure. I kind of think that once a seller offers an item for sale, he should be obligated to sell it to the highest bidder. Just my opinion, but I always felt pulling an auction to do a private deal was a bit unethical. In a traditional physical auction, I don't know if a seller can legally pull an item once the bidding has begun, but I certainly imagine that a seller who made a habit of this would find himself barred from using that auction house in the future. The time for a private sale is before an item is listed, or after in has ended without any bids that made reserve. A bidder must honor his bid, why should a seller not be bound by his offer to sell? Just my opinion.

\r?\n> I would think that Blackmailing a
\r?\n> seller is alot more of a violation than ending a listing
\r?\n> early and selling your property to whomever you please.
\r?\n> Since when did eBay begin controling commerce ?
\r?\n> If someone did this to me I would dilligently persue the
\r?\n> "blackmailer's" (read 2nd shlub's on the deal).
\r?\n> If "johnny come late" want to start
\r?\n> acting like inner city Pawnbrokers and hassleing anyone on
\r?\n> the block that wants to buy from a seller then this is a
\r?\n> dark time in the hobby.
\r?\n> If you don't like sloppy seconds then get there first.
\r?\n> (and keep your mouth shut until you seal the deal).
