While at my local Barnes & Noble today to reload the bedtime reading cue with Treehouse Mysteries (many of the stories are from the on-topic era!), I picked up the latest "Ride Cycling Review." It's apparently designed to help cyclists develop their neglected upper bodies, weighing in at about 3 Regina Oro freewheels - the kind of pricey, shiny object that I generally aspire to in the vintage bike world. Last one I leafed through (if one can be said to leaf through something it would take two monks to carry to the illuminating table) had a neat vintage bike section, but as the bike was an Australian marque I had never heard of (the magazine is Australian) - I leafed, admired, and moved on. The issue currently on offer locally is the April/May/June one, so surely my purchase of this one will bring July/August/September in off the loading dock at B&N. The retro ride on offer is a lovely 1961 Pinarello as used by Guido De Rosso to win the Tour de L'Avenir. Not just an afterthought sidebar piece, but four full color pages with very good photos and a thorough description of the bike, including the componentry. Definitely worth a look if you find yourself at Barnes & Noble with some spare time and looking for a substitute for 20-30 good push-ups.
