Subject: [CR] Mid 50's Gillott Fleur de Lis Rebuild advice
Dear Classic R subscribers
Excuse my naivety to this email list, I have extremely limited knowledge
when it comes to British lightweight bicycles but a great admiration, and
recently commissioned a rebuild of a 1950s bicycle. The restorer/craftsmen
purchased an excellent frame:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/robsargent/3543482662/in/photostream/ and I
have found a little bit of history. In essence it is a 50's Gillott Fleur de
Lis that has been re-worked and at a later date by De Ver. I have just sent
it to get re-sprayed and am about to order the decals. Although a vague
question; I would like to get a view on the most suitable components that
would suit this lovely frame, my aim would be for authenticity to the age
and efficiency for speed (lightweight). I thought campag goup set and mavic
wheels but that\u2019s as far as I have got, any of your expert thoughts most
welcome\u2026
