Is combining eras "OK"? Sure it is; it just depends on what you want.
My daily rider is a 35 year old Bob Jackson w/ modern Look pedals,
modern cork tape, and modern tires and tubes. I respoked the wheels
so I suppose the new spokes aren't period-correct, either. I guess it
depends on whether you're looking for a show-horse or a work-horse. I
have more miles in traditional toe-clips and leather straps than I do
on the Look pedals, but I don't see very many daily riders with
clip-and-strap style pedals. Some, but not very many.

I have Egg Beaters and San Marco Ponza saddles on my early 70's Zeus and 80's Cilo, and am putting Egg Beaters, a leather Fizik Arione saddle, 3TTT Evo stem and Deda anatomic bars on another early Zeus I just got. Is combining eras like that considered OK by vintage bike fans? Yours is the first other old steel bike I've seen with pedals like mine.

The syntax is of the numbering (i think) is logical and intuitive: You own a 55cm frame, and it was the 2,615th frame made (or... STAMPED !!).
