I have recently acquired an Atala professional racing frame from a contact
in Italy. The frame was built in 1981 so it fits the CR timeline. What is
interesting is the quality of the frame. The workmanship is wonderful, it
has beautiful Masi-like cutout lugs, scalloped seat stay caps, and other fine
details. It is quite different from other Atala pro frames coming out of
Stuyvesant bike shop in the late 1960s-early 1970s as Stuyvesant was the
exclusive importer of this marque. Did the factory do a turnaround, did they
hire new frame builders? Would any CR members wager a guess as to why the
quality significantly improved? Norm Hellman, Riverdale, New York.
