Subject: [CR] Pantographed Cranks : Modified at the Factory?

I recently got my first pantographed (gazelle / campagnolo) crank, and I noticed that in order to pantograph the cranks, the fluting of the cranks was modified so that it was uniform and deeper (a typical campagnolo crank has fluting that tapers towards the pedal eye.)

I also noticed that the outer borders of the (1977) pantograph crank are much softer than the sharp borders on a later, non-pantographed (1984) crank arm.

Since both crank arms are anodized, I was wondering if maybe Campagnolo produced a special order of cranks with uniform flutes, so that pantographing could be added in the after-market? It does not seem possible to do this cost-effectively outside the campagnolo factory, as the anodizing would have to be stripped, then the flutes enlarged, then the anodizing reapplied, to achieve this effect at Gazelle of Holland.
