Subject: [CR] Simon's Bike - conclusive proof that its French

A friend came by with his British antique shop bike today. It's pink, so I'm convinced it is a Mercier.

We switched cranksets and along the way found that the Bottom Bracket Thread is French. RGF cups/TA spindle/Stronglight 49 arms/TA triple rings/originally French pedal threads Seat post is 26.2.

So my question is:

Did any maker, other than the French, use French threaded Bottom Brackets?

The dead giveaway, to me, that the bike its French is that the drive side Stronglight Arm is 23 (measured 22.65) and the left side is a buggered 23.3 (measured 23.0). It took almost an hour to figure that out as I didn't expect it.

Anyone else have this problem? Was it on a French bike?
