I'm not all that concerned with the cost of the honing for the BB. Not much of my restoration work has been cost effective (at least thus far). I'm sure a few of our members that restore cars can attest...

But - I would like to restore and use the original BB that came with this bike, and am looking for a way to hone the Spindle and cups. So far the only responses have been telling me not to bother. I could be wrong to try, but there has to be a way to restore a BB to smoothness...

As to the plating and subsequent patina. Not worried. It'll look good shining and it'll look good patinated.

Happy new year to all and many thanks to Dale for the harsh rules that keep it on topic. Sometimes they seem over the top, but it's the rules here that make it so good. We have the best and most focused group on the web...
