As I aid before, Bill used to build for Condors in a shed at the back of the shop. We took orders on forms in the shop stating specifications and Bill built the frames with Lou doing the filing. It was an 8 to 6 day inc saturdays and I reckon Bill would build at least 2 frames a week. He was a great story teller and took no prisoners, if he thought you were a fool, hed waste no time in telling you. He used to work for the Freddy Grubb later Holdsworth works a, Annerly, Crystal palace, where the apprentices were put to work on the often failing, Allez Stems. These were considered junk at the time and are now quite Collectable. Shades of Van Gogh! I remember a tale of a well known London frame builder who used to visit tha Annerly works and collect the discarded ends of welding rods and tack them all togeather to make a stick for his own frames. Bill was a good Time Trialist in his own right and took me under his wing at 15 to train me. He would take me on a 40 mile trip back to home, which he would ride on a fixed wheel, and we would go over the famed Archway Hill and if I got out of the saddle, he would turn and bark"Sit Down", which I duly did. He was a hard taskmaster, but I still remeber his teaching, and his jokes.
