Keith,

The '64 Games were Tokyo, Rome was 1960. The green paint correlates with the other 1964 Team issue Paramounts that were that lovely almost lime green we normally associate with the Varsity.

The entire thread begs a mention of the Schwinn practice of providing Olympic team Paramounts to the team members as well as the colors used each quadrennial. When did the practise begin? I know it terminated in 1972.

Here's my recollection of years and colors, did the practice precede 1964?

1964: green 1968: translucent blue 1972: baby blue

Very interesting,

One of my best friends has a similar Schwinn tandem track bike that still has the original green metallic paint and decals. I think it is 24X24. No chrome. It was built for the '64 olymics in Rome and was originally sold at Kissena Cycles in NYC. It has been converted to a road bike, but I'm pretty sure he still has all of the track parts including the 1" pitch chainrings. It can be purchased for around $1K plus shipping IIRC. Contact me off list if interested. Bike is in Texas.
