Subject: [CR] Lugs, fork crowns and a saga of an Ebay novice

Old adages such as "You can't teach an old dog new tricks.." come to mind...but there again the optimists with their wine glasses half full..would counter with " You're never too old to learn!"

A few days ago I announced to the List that, aided by my wife..or should that be...under unacceptable pressure from my wife to declutter her life..I took the plunge to start selling on eBay. Nothing grand, you understand, just a few lugs here and the odd crown there, just to dip my toe in the mysterious waters that are eBay selling..and to placate the wife.

I have always known, deep down, that I should stick to hack saws, files and brazing torches as they do not go wrong very often...but computers..well they have..or at least mine has, a mind if its own.

I managed to list several items such as Haden Concorde lugs and some rare Prugnat ones...but in doing so succeeded, in the first case, in blocking all the potential bidders in the world from bidding, except for the one guy, the winner, a chap from Birmingham, UK who probably lives just around the corner from the factory where Haden pressed out the lugs. He must be a very happy chappy..and I just hope that, for him, my first attempt at selling might be his first attempt at buying...in which case he must think that his wine glass is overflowing.

The point of this letter is to thank all those fellow CR Listers who rallied, on and off-List, to offer advice, support, and encouragement to this novice..and to apologise to all those who emailed me to ask me to amend the auction site to enable them to bid. In spite of several attempts I never succeeded with the Haden lugs, but I am pleased to note that the rare Prugnat lugs are finding new homes with List members..and will, I trust, be built into K-O-F frames..to be shown tt and enjoyed by Listers at some future date.

For those who missed out on the Hadens but who might still be interested and for those, like myself, with a penchant for twin-plate fork crowns, I have listed some more items:-

*230432893867 - Haden Concorde lugs* *230432908903 - sand cast twin-plate track fork crown* *230433316694 - fabricated plate-steel twin-plate track crown - *
