I believe that Dawes was purchased by Batavus in the 80s. Batavus is the largest maker in the Netherlands under several brand names.

My first "real" bike was a Raleigh super Course. It was directly opposed by the Dawes Galaxy. They were identically set up from tube material to saddle brakes and derailleurs. I always preferred the looks of the Dawes cycles.

Alas the only tangible part of my brown Super Course is the Brooks B-15 saddle.

I do not see a lot of vintage Dawes cycles in Northern California, USA.

On another point; The Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen is hosting a swap meet the end of March in Sacramento California. I will offer more details later as they become available.
