now hold on,

i have one of the genuine TA extractors with TA chainring logo (and with matching 15mm peanut butter wrench) and there is no hardening or bushing involved in it's construction.. same goes with my old unmarked Stronglight extractor with socket/dustcap tool; the 'bolt' bears directly on the bottom bracket spindle and consequently gets a bit worn each time you use it. i guess these older tools were mostly for the home, and if you were purchasing for the shop environment you'd be better served with the equivalent VAR tool or the modern JA Stein.
