Ditched bicycles rust away very slowly

some years ago a lockkeeper made a tiny mistake and opened both gates at once. The canals in the city of Groningen 30 miles away all drained. This allowed the municipalty to collect a huge amount of bicycles and shopping trolleys and probably a few ditched cars as well with just a truck mounted crane. -- mvg
