The dropouts on my 1954 look much different. I'm not certain I understand the difference between cast and forged. They are thinner than on what I'm accustomed to seeing on 70's bikes (which I know are forged), but definitely have an added thickness in the portion that might be contacted by the washers that underlay the axle nuts. Does this sound like cast dropouts?

I may have to break down and take pictures.
